What you will learn Basic calligraphy form and italic hand, how to handle tools and materials and design your own projects
At the end of the class you should be able to: Make a greeting card or simple quote with flourishes and accents
What happens in the class (format/activities) First part: practice and learning how to letter the alphabet ‘families’ and numerals in italic style and second part: getting creative with colour and ideas for how you express yourself
Entry requirements willingness to practice at home
What you will need to know before you enrol Calligraphy takes time to learn. Minimum training time is about 12 hours just to get the right look and understand the ‘rules’ of visual rhythm required
What you will need to bring with you: HB penicl, eraser, ruler, masking tape.Starter calligraphy set in italic nibs–either felt-tip of fountain pens, pad of smooth drawing paper
What you can do after this course Go on to learn other calligraphy hands, illustration, graphic design and layout
